It's time to further empower Filipinos by allowing them to own businesses. Our new programs  - social franchising, impact investment, and tech app- will ensure enterprise development and longevity for a better tomorrow.

Bayan Enterprise Developers and Evolvers (EDGE) was formally launched.

Beyond simply lending money and capital, it aimed to provide clients with a better caliber of life through job creation, wealth creation, and enterprise evolution. The foundation transformed into a social development and entrepreneurship foundation offering a whole gamut of programs and services for social enterprises.

Then-president Gina Lopez handed Dr. Eduardo Morato, Jr. the reigns. Under Dr. Morato's leadership, Bayan began shifting from a traditional microfinance institution to a micro and small enterprise developer.

The sift then charted a new path towards enterprise development after rediscovering its fundamental social mission – to nurture the growth and uplift the well-being of individuals, families, enterprises, and communities

Established in 1997, the foundation started as a microfinance program initially named Bayan Microfinance under the umbrella of ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. (AFI). The foundation was set up from the seed capital from the CSR funds of the different Lopez groups of companies: ABS-CBN Broadcasting, Bauang Power Plant Corporation, First Gas, and Lopez Inc.
